Four Questions With Little Red

Melbourne-based pop act Little Red are a vibrant addition to the One Movement Showcase Music Festival line-up. Their old-school ‘doo-wop punk’ aesthetic has become an Australian festival fixture since early 2008. One of the five - we’re not sure which - answered four questions for One Movement Word.
What’s your favourite song this week?
I’ve been listening to ‘Back In Black’ by AC/DC on my iPod.
What do you hope to gain from the One Movement festival and conference?
I suppose these events are all about networking and gaining new audiences. We have a strong following in Melbourne but we would like to have more exposure elsewhere, particularly internationally. That is very hard unless you can make a direct connection with people in the industry and One Movement will allow such people to see our live show first hand I guess! And of course just looking forward to the opportunity to play a gig.
Which artists’ showcase sets are you most looking forward to watching?
Hilltop Hoods, Kate Miller-Heidke, Meiko, Tata Young, Biuret and Hercules In NY!
One Movement’s tagline is “Artist, Industry, Fan United.” What do you think needs to change in order to unite the music industry with its artists and fans?
That is a heavy question for early in the morning. The best way to make a connection with fans is through live gigging. I think the industry is too caught up in hit singles and photo shoots when artists should be encouraged to make as much music as possible and gig as much as possible. It seems like that’s how it used to be in the 60s and 70s and the industry is moving away from that.
Little Red play the Crossover Stage at 5.20pm on Sunday, 18th October (full timetable here). Their video for ‘Coca Cola’ is embedded below.
