Sonicbids Showcase: The Paper Scissors Live In Wolf Lane

Sonicbids One Movement Perth logo

Billing itself as an “online matchmaker” between bands and promoters, Sonicbids has a thousands-strong worldwide database. The site provides an electronic way for musicians to send their music to promoters and pitch for a gig, without having to spend lots of money on postage. Promoters can “shop” the site for musicians they like when they’re hunting for new artists. The site also maintains a list of available gigs, so bands can see who is looking for artists and throw their hat into the ring when something appealing comes up.

Sonicbids organised a late-night showcase in Wolf Lane following the One Movement Showcase Music Festival on Saturday, 17 October 2009.

First on the bill were Sydney-based indie band The Paper Scissors, who’ve downsized to a three-piece since I saw them support Bluejuice in 2008. Their loose rock style kept our eyes and ears focussed on the stage, although the crowd in attendance was sparse when compared to the sold-out Dew Process showcase on Friday night.

Footage of The Paper Scissors’ track ‘Yamanote Line’ is embedded below. Check them out on MySpace.
